Get involved with Dawn to Dusk Day 2022

The Watercress Way is delighted to be able to resume the Dawn to Dusk Day, our key event of the year, on Sunday 24th April.

Sign up at Eventbrite now and consider providing a donation if you are able. These contributions are critical to enabling The Watercress Way to continue to manage and maintain the route.

A full programme of events are planned throughout the day, beginning with our hallmark Dawn Chorus walk starting at Arlebury Park, Alresford. We'll start just before dawn at 4.30am, so that we'll hear the first songs of the Dawn Chorus by the river. We will finish at Arlebury Park about 80 minutes later, so we advise you to park there. This event is dependent on the weather (birds don't sing in heavy rain!) so we'll need to hold your details to give updates. Please don't bring dogs, and we will provide hot drink/snack at the end-so please let us know any dietary requirements on the signup form, or email us directly at info@thewatercressway.org.uk.

Kings Worthy walk - walking on the wild side! Starting at 10am. A footpath was agreed in 2019, but ecological concerns have delayed opening up this fascinating section of old railway line. Please join us  at 'Top Field' (to see the 'before' and 'after' of how an an old railway can be  turned into an amazing walking and cycling link between communities. Shorter walk with interest for children. Longer walks available. Please wear clothes  to keep skin covered, some areas are unkempt. Lots of parking at Burnet Lane, Kings Meadow, off Firs Crescent.

Sutton Scotney - a walk with a pub stop-or maybe two! Starting at The Gratton car park (by the allotments)  at 2pm, Clive Cook and fellow trustees will lead you along the Watercress Way, deviating only for short stops at the Wonston Arms, one of our sponsoring pubs.  See behind the gates at the improving section of the old railway line on Wonston Road and hear more about why our chalk streams are precious.

All events on are listed on Eventbrite, please sign up and consider providing a donation if you are able. These contributions are critical to enabling The Watercress Way to continue to manage and maintain the route.

Meet the Trustees at The Plough, Itchen Abbas from 6pm to 7pm. This is your chance to talk about the whole;e route and get involved!

Will you be running and walking  on the day? A team of runners are running the whole route, but if you’d like to run, walk or cycle even a kilometre or more for fun on the day, you may like to be sponsored or support us? We are fundraising for proper gates at the Wonston Road bridge in Sutton Scotney. We’d love to see your updates on social media using the hashtag #dawntoduskday. You can also feedback to us via our Facebook page.

Registration for all events is available at Eventbrite, but all are welcome on the day regardless. Please consider providing a donation if you are able. These contributions are critical to enabling The Watercress Way to continue to manage and maintain the route.

We look forward to seeing you on the day!
