Watercress Way Alre Wander

Approximately 2 miles along gravel and grassy footpaths with a short section of minor road ( no pavements)

Children welcome, dogs on leads .

Come and enjoy one of England’s ecological jewels in the crown of biodiversity: The Arle chalk stream. investigate its impact on local landscapes and heritage as it flows gin-clear through the South Downs, weaving across meadows, billowing with watercress, water-buttercup, wild trout and pike.

This hour long walk will be led by Kim Adams, former Trustee of The Watercress Way , sharing stories and ghosts of the past of watercress, eels, swans, mills and more! The walk starts at Arlebury Park and ends with a visit to Alresford Museum housed in the Old Fire Station in Broad St.

You can leave the walk there to enjoy this quintessential Georgian town centre and its many pubs and cafes, or return via West St / The Avenue back to the carpark.

This event is delivered as part of the Alre Together project, funded by the Watercress and Winterbournes project, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
