Volunteers help Trustees at litter pick in Top Field

We were delighted to welcome two volunteers to assist some of our trustees in our first event of the year. We were able to do a litter pick outside following Covid rules at Top Field, Kings Worthy.The end of the cutting has been used as a social area during lockdown and unfortunately a lot of rubbish had accumulated. A group of us armed with gloves, bags and litter pickers have tidied the area and returned the barriers to the builders. We also retrieved a Tesco trolley dumped on Kim Bishop Walk and returned it to the shop.It was great to be able to get out at last and do something as a group. The trustees have been actively planning via Zoom meetings. The proposed new paths at Top Field are progressing and the surface has been improved by the contractors. Once the final legal requirements for the Rights of Way have been confirmed by Hampshire County Council we will open the path along the railway cutting and then connect to the existing cutting at Woodhams Farm Lane.These paths have been used regularly by walkers throughout lockdown - with and without dogs! We recommend these paths as part of your daily exercise. Getting out into the countryside is good for both our physical and mental health.We will update you as soon as our plans are confirmed.
