Dawn to Dusk Day 2024

The Watercress Way will once again run its very popular Dawn to Dusk Day on the 28th April 2024, with a series of events across the day that showcase both the work of the charity and its trustees, and the route itself.

All events are free to attend. For those that are able your donations help us with our work to maintain and continue to provide access to the route. Please see the Eventbrite pages listed below for further details, or make a donation directly.

Saturday 27th April

3pm-4pm, Tour of the Chesil Street Railway Tunnel (///having.salmon.violin)

A special early event to kick off this year’s programme.

Meet at Chesil Street Car Park at 3pm on Saturday 27th April for a short tour of the railway tunnel.

Afterwards we recommend enjoying an extended walk to the Handlebar Café at the foot of St Catherine’s hill on the old railway embankment (approx. 1 mile), then walking onto the Hockley viaduct.

Bookings for Adults and older children only. No dogs.

Unfortunately the weather forecast is not suitable for this event. We will update in the next seven days with details for a new date in the coming weeks.

Start in the dark!

Meet at Couch Green for the Annual Dawn Chorus walk along the river and the section of the old railway line at Martyr Worthy. As the sun rises, our expert guides will introduce you to the local bird population that can be found along the Watercress Way.

Distance approx. 2 miles, returning back at the starting point.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this event due to lower interest than expected.

 

2:30pm to 3:30pm, Birdsong Trail Launch and New Alresford Eel House Visit

Join us to celebrate the Rotary Club launch of the Birdsong trail at the Millennium walk seat, followed by a visit to the Eel House from 3pm.

6pm to 7pm, Meet the Trustees and Share Your Stories of the Station at Sutton Scotney, Coach and Horses (///narrowest.longer.hiking)

Meet for a drink with Trustees, learn how you can get involved.

We would love to hear from anyone that remembers the station at Sutton Scotney.
