Bridges along the disused railway track Alresford to Sutton Scotney.
Over Winchester Road, a maintained major Highway.
Avoid bridge by routing path down the bank.
After the bridge the embankment peters out so the footpath would be though the field from there on. No evidence of the old track across the field about 100metres beyond this bridge.
Possibly embankment excavated to fill in cutting, making the land fairly level between the two bridges.
The side walls of the bridge still exist, but a few inches of the arch is showing. It appears that the surrounding field has been built up, as if “submerging” the bridge.
The path would just circumvent this.
This bridge carries the Itchen Stoke to Abbotstone Road, a maintained Highway.
It is very overgrown but if cleared could probably enable a path to pass underneath.
Bridge overgrown, line “filled in” leaving only a couple of feet clearance under the arch.
Path could easily go round the bridge on the south side, between the structure and the vineyard fence.
Currently carries a footpath over the bridge, which the Watercress Way could join by routing the path up the embankment.
The footpath would then follow tracks 37 & 36 (Three Castles Path) to bridge 81.
This Bridge is heavily overgrown, but carries Rectory Way a maintained road. However, track 36 follows the road north to the bridge but turns off right just before the bridge along track 33 continuing The Three Castles Path.
Three Castles Path (Track 33) follows the footpath roads to the Northington Road and the viaduct which is Bridge 82.
The viaduct has small trees growing along the track over it.
The track over the viaduct has locked gates at both ends.
